Orange Breytir[Bry-o] (Legendary)

Category: Modifiers
nBry | Bry
Trait Count - 5

Breytir is a coat modifier that completely alters the color of the coat. It has attached modifiers that indicate it's color, red, blue, and yellow being the foundation colors.
Currently, there are three colors present in breytir, red[-r], blue[-b], and yellow[-y]. However, upon breeding and mixing the different colors, more began to pop up, primarily seen as orange[-o], green[-g], and purple[-p]. Even when breeding for these color combos, they are much more rare than the classic colors of breytir.
Breytir acts like a normal gene, so things like countershading and other gene interactions are entirely normal and will be viable. A breytir BA with single cream will have an inherently lighter coat, as dilutions will still do their job of diluting the coat.
- Flight feathers and webbing will match mane color.
- Hoof color tends to be slightly darker than the skin color.

Even when breeding for these color combos, they are much more rare than the classic colors of breytir.
Combo breytir is even more rare than the other colors, due to needing two copies of different colors to pass onto the foal. Red orange[-r-o], red purple[-r-p], yellow orange[-y-o], yellow green[-y-g], blue green[-b-g], and blue purple[-b-p].

Kit Sabino[Sb] (Common)

Category: Paint Markings
nSb | SbSb
Trait Count - 1

Sabino is a paint gene located on the same locus as other Kit Genes(Tobiano, Roan, and Dom White). Sabino is a pretty free paint marking. It typically starts at the legs and belly and works its way up.
- Flight feathers and webbing will be white where marking touches.
- Hoof color will be pink where marking touches.
- Sabino will never have smooth edges to its marks.

Eye Colors

Sabino Range
Blue is the minimum required expression.
Yellow is the maximum optional expression.
Red is the area expression is not allowed.
The white palettes provided are a simple guide, as different coats will likely have different tinted whites. Though, these guides do set what the palest possible natural white can be in terms of hex code. Anything that is paler than the palettes will be asked to be changed.
The below palettes go as white intended for a black - bay - chestnut from left to right. Warm coats will have warm toned white, while cool tones will have cool toned whites.

Splash[Spl] (Common)

Category: Paint Markings
nSpl |SplSpl
Trait Count - 1

Splash is another simple paint marking. As its name may imply, splash makes it look like your Beatus was splashed with white paint. Splash will always start from the legs and belly. Splash will never have textured edges or extremely sharp points/edges.
- Flight feathers and webbing will be white where markings touch.
- Hoof color will be pink where markings touch.

Beatus are not exempt from Lethal White Syndrome, which is where a foal does not fully develop before birth. Three different genes are known to cause this, Splash, Dom White, and Overo.
Splash has 3 variations, each with varying degrees of risks with breeding. You can check what type of splash you Beatus has with an LWS Tester.

  • Spl-1 is 100% safe in both nSpl-1 and SplSpl-1.
  • Spl-2 has risks in both non-dom and dom forms.
    • nSpl-2 has the following risks; 10% chance of deafness, 5% chance of blind and deafness, 85% chance of a healthy foal.
    • SplSpl-2 has the following risks; 50% chance of deafness, 25% chance of blind and deafness, 20% chance of being healthy, 5% chance of a deceased foal.
  • Spl-3 carries the most risks, in both forms.
    • nSpl-3 has the following risks; 35% chance of deafness, 50% chance of blind and deafness, 5% chance of a healthy foal, 10% chance of a deceased foal.
    • SplSpl-3 has a 100% death rate.

Eye Colors
Blue, Light Blue

Splash Range
Blue is the minimum required expression. Splash has two minimal variations, the one displayed on the range, along with hidden splash, which is where only the eyes are affected, turning blue.
Yellow is the maximum optional expression.
Red is the area expression is not allowed. Splash must show at least 10-15% of the base coat. Maximum expressions will always have blue eyes.
The white palettes provided are a simple guide, as different coats will likely have different tinted whites. Though, these guides do set what the palest possible natural white can be in terms of hex code. Anything that is paler than the palettes will be asked to be changed.

- Tobianos can have cat tracks, which are small and infrequent spots, similar to belton spots.
- Flight feathers and webbing will be white where markings touch.
- Hoof color will be pink where markings touch.

Kit Roan[Rn] (Uncommon)

Category: Paint Markings
nRn | RnRn
Trait Count - 2

Roan isn't quite a paint marking but is found on the same locus as the other Kit Genes(Tobiano, Sabino, and Dom White), so it's considered a paint marking. Roan is white hairs mixing with the rest of the coat. It starts from the topline and works its way down, getting less intense typically towards the head, legs, and tail.
- Flight feathers and webbing can be white where marking touches.
- Mane and tail can be white where marking touches.
- Wings and mane can be affected separately by roan.
- Roan can be textured, but it shouldn't be a harsh texture. Any texturing needs to be soft and blend with the coat.
- Roans can have corn-spots, which are small holes in the roan, similar to cat tracks on a Tobiano.

Roan Range
Blue is the minimum required expression.
Yellow is the maximum optional expression.
Red is the area expression is not allowed.

Snowflake[-sf] (Free)

Category: Leopard Complex
Snowflake | [-sf]
Trait Count - 3

Snowflake is a double expression of appaloosa. It will only show WITH another appaloosa gene, so like nLp(roan-sf) which would be a varnish roan snowflake.
Snowflake shows with mutations that suppress appaloosa genes. It's currently unknown as to why.
Snowflake will reflect the density of the appaloosa present, so a minimal appaloosa won't have a maximal snowflake.

Varnish Roan[Lp[roan]] (Common)

Category: Leopard Complex

Trait Count - 3

Varnish Roan is the most basic variation of the leopard complex gene and is the foundation for other variants. Varnish is always heavily textured and in more maximum expression can sometimes be mistaken as a fewspot appaloosa. 'Corn spots' are always found on varnish roans as it is an appaloosa gene, there will never be a large number of them, but are typically more frequent than corn spots on a kit roan.
- Flight feathers and webbing can be white where marking touches.
- Mane and tail can be white where marking touches.

- Snowspot will always affect the mane, tail, and wings in higher expressions.
- When paired with snowflake, snowflake will also progress and expand on the coat.
