Blue Breytir[Bry-b] (Rare)

Category: Modifiers
nBry | Bry
Trait Count - 3

Breytir is a coat modifier that completely alters the color of the coat. It has attached modifiers that indicate it's color, red, blue, and yellow being the foundation colors.
Currently, there are three colors present in breytir, red[-r], blue[-b], and yellow[-y]. However, upon breeding and mixing the different colors, more began to pop up, primarily seen as orange[-o], green[-g], and purple[-p]. Even when breeding for these color combos, they are much more rare than the classic colors of breytir.
Breytir acts like a normal gene, so things like countershading and other gene interactions are entirely normal and will be viable. A breytir BA with single cream will have an inherently lighter coat, as dilutions will still do their job of diluting the coat.
- Flight feathers and webbing will match mane color.
- Hoof color tends to be slightly darker than the skin color.

Merle[Mrl] (Rare)

Category: Modifiers
nMrl | MrlMrl
Trait Count - 3

Merle in BAs somewhat mimics merle in dogs, but with some exceptions. When non-dom[nMrl] it does not mess with eye color, when dom[MrlMrl] eyes will be blue or light blue in color.
nMrl will always be three colors. MrlMrl will always be four colors. Those colors will either be layer light to dark or dark to light and can be lighter or darker than the coat.
- Does not affect skin or hooves

Eye Colors

nMrl Range
Blue is the minimum required expression.
Yellow is the maximum optional expression.
Red is the area where expression is not allowed.

MrlMrl Range

Bider Mark[-b] (Rare)

Category: Modifiers
-b
Trait Count - 3

Bider marks cause odd textured areas on dun horses. Bider marks will ALWAYS be textured, even in extremely dense areas.
- Skin color is unaffected by bider marks.

Kit Dom White[W] (Rare)

Category: Paint Markings
nW | WW
Trait Count - 3

Dom white turns the horse white, some can have patches color along their topline. In some cases, it can be mistaken for sabino when expressed more minimally. Dom white is found on the same locus as the other Kit Genes(Tobiano, Roan, and Sabino).
- Dom white does not affect the eye color of a Beatus.
- Dom White Expression is somewhat inherited, meaning you won't get a minimum expression foal with a maximum expression parent.
- Flight feathers and webbing will white where markings touch.
- Hoof color will be pink where markings touch.
- Dom white will not have smooth edges to markings.

Beatus are not exempt from Lethal White Syndrome, which is where a foal does not fully develop before birth. Three different genes are known to cause this, Dom White, Splash, and Overo.
Dom White has 4 variations, each with varying degrees of risks with breeding. You can check what type of dom white you Beatus has with an LWS Tester.

  • W-1 is 100% safe in both nW-1 and WW-1.
  • W-2 is where the risks begin.
    • nW-2 is 100% safe.
    • WW-2 has the following risks; 25% chance of blindness, 25% chance of deafness, 20% chance of both blind and deafness, 25% chance of being healthy, 5% chance of a deceased foal.
  • W-3 has risks in both non-dom and dom forms.
    • nW-3 has the following risks; 30% chance of blindness, 30% chance of deafness, 35% chance of being healthy, 5% chance of a deceased foal.
    • WW-3 has the following risks; 20% chance of blindness, 20% chance of deafness, 35% chance of blind and deafness, 10% chance of a healthy foal, 15% chance of a deceased foal.
  • W-4 carries the most risks, in both forms.
    • nW-4 has the following risks; 15% chance of blindness, 15% chance of deafness, 40% chance of blind and deafness, 5% chance of a healthy foal, 25% chance of a deceased foal.
    • WW-4 has a 100% death rate.

Dom White Range
Blue is the minimum required expression.
Yellow is the maximum optional expression.
Red is the area expression is not allowed.
The white palettes provided are a simple guide, as different coats will likely have different tinted whites. Though, these guides do set what the palest possible natural white can be in terms of hex code. Anything that is paler than the palettes will be asked to be changed.
The below palettes go as white intended for a black - bay - chestnut from left to right. Warm coats will have warm toned white, while cool tones will have cool toned whites.
