Inverse[!] L (Uncommon)

Category: Leopard Complex
Inverse | !
Trait Count - 2

Inverse inverses, or flips, where paint markings express. For example, a leopard will display as white spots over the body and can be mistaken for chubari spots. A snowspot will start as mostly white, and show more of their base coat as they age.

Inverse Examples

Mismark[-m] (Uncommon)

Category: Leopard Complex
Mismarked | [-m]
Trait Count - 3

Mismark is essentially blood marks for appaloosas. It will only show when present with an appaloosa gene, so like nLp(roan-m) which would be a mismarked varnish roan.
The edges of mismark will reflect the type of appaloosa it's tied to. So a leopard might have a hard-edge mismark, while a varnish has a soft one.

Chubari Spots[Cu] (Uncommon)

Category: Anomalies
nCu | CuCu
Trait Count - 2

Chubari spots, sometimes misinterpreted as inverse appaloosa, is a gene that displays as large spots across the body. These spots are never small, and love to bunch up and layer over one another.
- Chubari spots affect the mane, wings, skin, and hooves where they touch.

Chubari
The absolute minimum number of chubari spots is 2, these can be on the off-side from the import sheets, but must be stated when submitting designs.
The Angel displays both the minimum and the smallest size chubari spots can be.
The Nephilim is displaying both a more maximal expression and the biggest size spots can be.

Vitiligo[V] (Uncommon)

Category: Anomalies
nV | VV
Trait Count - 2

Vitiligo causes a BA to lose pigment in their skin and fur, similar to in humans. Foals will have next to no, or no visible spotting, as vitiligo develops with age.
In BAs, vitiligo stays around where there is exposed skin on the body, so the eyes, mouth, nose, etc. Eye and mane are unaffected by vitiligo.
Vitiligo spotting tends to start on the face and groin area of a BA and is always white in color and turns the skin pink.

Vitiligo General Range
Blue is the minimum required expression.
Yellow is the maximum optional expression.
Red is the area expression is not allowed.

Vitiligo Examples

Different Wing Color (Uncommon)

Category: Passable Trait
Trait Count - 2

Wing and tail feathers become a different color than the mane. The picked color is still required to blend or match the coat.
This passable gets hidden by color mutations that affect the wing.

  1. nqu with or without Dun
  2. ququ and no Dun

Fawncy[Fwn] (Uncommon)

Category: BA Mutations
nFwn | FwnFwn
Trait Count - 2

Fawncy is a coat mutation introduced in early 2020. It causes fawn spotting along their topline and can also cause strong countershading, cloven hooves, and antlers.

Traits and Markings
White fawn spotting along the topline, which sticks to the dark countershading.
Countershading along the topline and belly is always present in Fawncy, and while it has a soft edge, it does not blend into the coat like other genes[pangare being an example].
Countershading can be close in color to the base coat, or significantly darker/lighter. On bays, the dark countershading has a tendency to be the same or similar in color to the points.

Passable Traits
Antlers
Cloven Hooves

Other Gene Interactions
Displays above all modifier genes.
Displays above all paint and appaloosa genes, when possible.
Fawncy will never show with Felis; only one or the other will show, due to conflicting origins

Fawncy Spots Range
Blue is the minimum required expression.
Yellow is the maximum optional expression.
Red is the area expression is not allowed.

Fawncy Countershading Ranges
Blue is the minimum required expression.
Yellow is the maximum optional expression.
Red is the area expression is not allowed.

Festive[fst] (Uncommon)

Category: BA Mutations
nfst | fstfst
Trait Count - 2

Festive first appeared in Beatus in December 2019. It came just in time to celebrate the holidays!
Festive is only importable in December, and there is a 20% chance for it to appear in breedings during the month of December. It is a double recessive gene and requires Glitz, Harlow, Rosea, Peafowl, Space Dust, and/or Pride to display.

Traits and Markings
Strings of light in the attached mutation colors. Lights will all be from the color mutation. String can either be from the color mutation, a variation of the coat or grey to black in color
At least one string of lights must be visible
At least two colors need to be present in the lights, unless displaying with Harlow or Glitz, as these two can be one color
Lights glow! Optionally can be shown on the import, if shown, either a non-glow version or the mini side needs to be non-glowing to pass.

Other Gene Interactions
Festive displays above all modifiers, paint, and appaloosa genes.

Festive Range
Blue is the minimum required expression.
Yellow is the maximum optional expression.
Red is the area expression is not allowed.

Likido[Li] (Uncommon)

Category: BA Mutations
nLi | LiLi
Trait Count - 2
Created by Longtailsally

Likido is an interesting mutation, to say the least. It creates a glass-like belly on a Beatus that's filled with, some kind of liquid. No one's been able to figure it out. The glass on their bellies is almost unbreakable, so there's no worry in a Beatus being harmed.

When breeding a Likido the foal's liquid colors will be directly influenced by the parent or parents. Meaning, colors, and design. Other traits like Forbidden Drink will also be influenced. They won't be exact copies, but there does need to be an obvious influence.
Here are some handy tools to help in blending colors: Color Blender, Colorblender.io, and ColorKit.

Traits and Markings
Glass-like belly with colored liquid
Liquid can be any one color
There must be some clear space in all parts of Likido

Passable Traits
Bottle
Forbidden Drink
Glitter
Teeth
Two Color

Other Gene Interactions
Likido does not interact with any natural genes

Ribbon[ri] (Uncommon)

Category: BA Mutations
nri | riri
Trait Count - 2
Created by DaretoDream0

Ribbon is a recessive dominant mutation meaning it needs two copies to show, Ribbon also needs two copies of silver or flaxen to show. Otherwise, it won't express. Due to this, a lot of Ribbon Beatus are Ribbon carriers. Ribbon is also a remake of the original Ribbon mutation that is now known as Quagga!

Traits and Markings
Two copies Ribbon[riri] to display
Dominant silver[ZZ] or flaxen[ff], silver and flaxen do not need to be visible on the design! So a chestnut with ZZ can still display Ribbon

Ribbon Range
Blue is the minimum required expression.
Yellow is the maximum optional expression.
Red is the area expression is not allowed.

Examples

Space Dust[Spd] (Uncommon)

Category: BA Mutations
nSpd | SpdSpd
Trait Count - 3

Space Dust was a winner of our 2019 Mutation Contest!
Space Dust behaves similarly to both Peafowl and Rosea. It turns the mane, tail, and all feathers to mimic a galaxy.

When breeding a Space Dust the foals galaxy colors will be directly influenced by the parent or parents. Meaning, colors and design. They won't be exact copies, but there does need to be influence.
Here are some handy tools to help in blending colors: Color Blender, Colorblender.io, and ColorKit.

Traits and Markings
Turns mane, tail, and flight feathers/webbing into a galaxy, including stars
Stars need to be near white; they can still be colored, but should still be obviously a shade of white
Hooves will be at least one color picked from the galaxy, excluding star color. Hooves can optionally mimic the full Space Dust as well

Passable Traits
Planets
Pingette

Other Gene Interactions
When white markings touch the eyes, they will lighten the picked eye color.

Eye Colors
One color from the galaxy, cannot be the star color. Star color can be included with Heterochromia: Unique

Space Dust Range
Blue is the minimum required expression.
Yellow is the maximum optional expression.
Red is the area expression is not allowed.
